Day 1: Kathgodam → Bageshwar

Your trip commences in the morning from Kathgodam as you take a drive to Bageshwar through the serpentine roads of mountain. By afternoon, you will be in Bageshwar. After you have checked into your hotel visit the ancient Bagnath Temple.

Day 2: Bageshwar → Kharkiya → Khati Village

Get up before dawn for a about three-hour drive to Kharkiya. From this point, your journey to Khati Village by foot commences. The 5 km trail stretches over terraced fields and pine-filled forests. Upon reaching Khati, taste the simple side of rural Kumaoni life.

Day 3: Khati → Jaitoli Village

Today, the trail separates to the west from Khati – here commence the Sunderdhunga Valley trek. Trek through thick oak and rhododendron forests. Upon arrival Jaitoli Village, Warm welcome by the villagers! And a peaceful camping site surrounded by lush green hills.

Day 4: Jaitoli → Kathalia Base Camp

It is a long day but a good one nevertheless. The route gently ascends through dense alpine woods interspersed with openings that reveal breathtaking views of the valley. By evening you’ill reach Kathalia Base Camp (3,200 m).

Day 5: Kathalia - Sunderdhunga Glacier & Baluni Top

This is by far the most exciting and picturesque day of the trek. The day begins early with a trek towards the Sunderdhunga Glacier via Maiktoli Base Camp and the steep ridges up to Baluni Top. At the top you’ll get to enjoy Nanda Devi East, Maiktoli, Panwalidwar and Baljouri peaks in 360°.

Day 6: Kathalia - Sukhram Cave

After breakfast, wake to go on an enchanting hike to Sukhram cave, an enormous rock formation jutting out from the Sunderdhunga Valley below. In the afternoon return to Kathalia rest and partake in storytelling or bonfire sessions coordinated by your trek leader.
